Introducing the
Mentorship Program

At Launchpad, we believe in the power of connection, growth, and transformation. Our mentoring program is dedicated to building a supportive community where individuals can thrive through meaningful, one-on-one relationships. Whether you want to share your expertise as a mentor or seek guidance and inspiration as a mentee, we are here to support your journey.

Challenge yourself daily, for it is in overcoming challenges that you discover your true capabilities.- Richard Akita

What We Do

Our mission is simple; to empower individuals through various mechanics and modules that challenge the growth mindset of mentees. Some modules include;

Teaching mindfulness is a great way to help mentees develop self-awareness, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being.

Teaching modules on peak performance can empower mentees to optimize their productivity, achieve their goals, and perform at their best in various aspects of life.

Teaching modules on critical thinking can equip mentees with the skills to analyse, evaluate, and solve problems effectively. Throughout the modules, we incorporate practical exercises, group discussions, and real-life examples to engage mentees as well as encourage applying critical thinking skills in their personal lives, as well as in decision-making and problem-solving scenarios.

Teaching modules on communication skills can help mentees become more effective and confident communicators in various areas such as writing and giving a speech, using creative writing to write poetry, give spoken word performances or vote of thanks.

Teaching modules on discovering personal talents can help individuals identify their strengths, passions, and unique abilities. We encourage mentees to embrace curiosity and experimentation to uncover their unique talents. We also challenge mentees to use personal branding to promote and use their talents to serve their community.

Learning to love problems helps the curious to look for solutions and once a solution is discovered and monetised that is the trait of an entrepreneur. Whilst not every mentee maybe an entrepreneur our goal is to help them to become solution driven, this habit takes intentionality and a lifetime to mature but essential in a world of changes that demands innovation. Our entrepreneurship module can inspire and equip our mentees with the knowledge and skills to pursue their business ideas and foster an entrepreneurial mindset or be change agents in their chosen fields.

Unmasked Boys/Girls & Teens Mentoring

Our Method

Icebreakers

Icebreakers are a useful tool for mentoring because they create a relaxed, interesting atmosphere that promotes open communication and fosters a sense of community, and trust among others. It helps children feel less anxious by starting with enjoyable basic exercises which will increase their readiness to receive guidance and assistance

Group Activities and Exercises

Group mentoring activities and exercises effectively promote social, emotional, and cognitive development in children. These activities:
- Teach critical life skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving
- Provide a platform for peer interaction, developing empathy and understanding of diverse perspectives
- Create a supportive environment where children feel valued and heard
- Build self-esteem and encourage positive behaviour through role modelling and constructive feedback
- Address individual needs by creating a sense of community and belonging
- Help children build relationships, gain confidence, and develop skills to navigate social dynamics and overcome challenges.

Self-Assessment

Self-assessment is a useful tool for mentoring kids because it helps them think critically about their development, behaviour, and learning. This method encourages accountability, critical thinking, and self-awareness. Children who frequently evaluate their strengths and establish progress acquire a growth mindset and learn to view obstacles as chances for personal development. Mentors can facilitate this process by offering encouragement, constructive criticism, and well-defined criteria. Children who use this strategy develop greater self-confidence and become self-sufficient, lifelong learners who are more prepared to set and meet academic and personal goals.

Case Studies

Case studies offer a practical and engaging approach to learning. By examining scenarios, children can see the application of theoretical concepts in tangible solutions. This approach helps develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as mentees analyse the challenges presented and consider various solutions. Through case studies, mentors can guide mentees in exploring different perspectives and outcomes, fostering empathy and understanding. This hands-on approach makes learning more dynamic and relevant, preparing mentees to navigate complex situations in their own lives.

Presentation and Role Play

Mentees develop critical communication skills including public speaking, clarity of expression, and the ability to organize their thoughts logically which in turn enhances their confidence and self-esteem. Presentations and role play encourage active listening, learning, and critical thinking as mentees research their topics to understand them deeply and anticipate questions. It also fosters creativity, allowing them to explore various media and storytelling techniques to convey their message. Ultimately, the feedback received during presentations helps children refine their skills and encourages a growth mindset. This prepares them for future presentations and social interactions.

Debates

By engaging in structured arguments, mentees learn to research topics thoroughly, consider multiple perspectives, and articulate their ideas clearly. Debates enhance logical reasoning and opinions as they create an environment of healthy arguments to develop empathy by understanding opposing viewpoints. It also teaches them to handle disagreements respectfully and constructively, an essential skill for personal and academic growth. Through debates, mentees are nurtured to develop intellectual curiosity and active participation in society.

Speeches

Public speaking is essential for life, and mastering its protocols builds confidence. Creating a safe space allows our mentees to enhance and develop their public speaking skills. This safe space consists of a community of mentors and peers, encouraging the sharing of ideas. Speeches play a crucial role in setting the tone, providing inspiration, sharing knowledge, and reinforcing the program's values and objectives. They are powerful tools for motivating both mentors and mentees, fostering a sense of community, and establishing a clear vision for success. Whether delivered at program kick-offs, regular meetings, or closing ceremonies, speeches can significantly enhance the impact and effectiveness of mentoring initiatives.

Cooking Challenge and Chores

Mentees are encouraged to embark on culinary adventures by exploring their kitchens and experimenting with a variety of ingredients. This not only boosts their comfort and confidence in the kitchen but also enhances their cooking skills. Additionally, mentees are inspired to tackle house chores, fostering the development of soft skills while also lending a helping hand to their parents.
